Girl of the Month - TAYLOR

Welcome to The Umbrella Girls GIRL OF THE MONTH where we shine the light on a girl who sparkles in her world. Each month we will share a little piece of a little girl's world who is inspired to shine bright through the life learning and inspiration she receives from The Umbrella Girls book series.

Hi Taylor, where are you from?

I live in the Eastern Suburbs, in Sydney Australia.

Wow! Down Under, how cool. How old are you and what year are you in school?

I'm 11 and I'm in Year 5.

Awesome! We'd love to get to know you a little more, what are some of your favourite things to do?

My favourite things to do are swimming. painting, drawing and hanging out with my friends.

They sound like fun things you need lots of energy for, what food do you love to eat?

I love ribs with sweet potato chips, rainbow cake and all kinds of fruit.

Yum! The Umbrella Girls creators love rainbow cake too! Do you have any big or small rainbow dreams?

I want to be a Paralympic swimmer at the age of 14 and represent my country.

Wow! That's amazing Taylor! The Umbrella Girls team will be cheering you on in 2020. Sometimes little girls with big dreams have fears too? Do you have any fears? If so, what are they are how do you overcome them?

I am afraid of the dark (like Pia in The Talking Shells). I try to think of happy stuff like rainbows.

Yeah, being afraid of the dark is the worst. Pia in "The Talking Shells" can relate. What else do you enjoy about The Umbrella Girls? Do you have any favourite books, characters or meditations from the series?

I like that all The Umbrella Girls have unique personalities and their differences.

Thanks for letting us know. We love hearing that you enjoy all of those differences that makes The Umbrella Girls series so unique. It's been so inspiring talking to you Taylor, if you could encourage other girls around the world to pursue their dreams and shine, what words of inspiration would you give them?

Just to be yourself and never stop trying because you never know what your possibilities are.

Wow! You really are born to be star! Do you have any stars, girls in the world that inspire you to shine bright?

I am really inspired by Jacqueline Freney who won 8 gold medals at London 2012 Paralympic games and named Young Australian of the Year in 2014. I also LOVE Katy Perry - she is pretty inspirational because she is all about girl power... I think Katy would have made a great Umbrella Girl.
